Revenue
Forward Deployed Engineer
Summary
Sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and go-to-market — write code, debug integrations, and unblock deployments, while being on every sales call as the technical voice that turns skeptical buyers into champions. Equal parts technical work and people work.
What you'll do
- Be on sales calls as the technical voice — build rapport with developer buyers, answer hard questions live, give prospects confidence to move forward.
- Run independent conversations with prospects to push deal flow — don't wait to be looped in.
- Own the technical win in pre-sales: design POCs, guide prospects, close the technical side.
- Build compelling demos — video walkthroughs or live phone numbers prospects can call.
- Scope professional-services work and help prospects understand end-to-end deployment.
- Co-architect integrations on-site with customer engineering across healthcare, banking, insurance, BPOs, tech platforms.
- Debug and unblock customer deployments, traveling to client sites when needed; be the primary technical contact.
- Surface time-sensitive customer feedback to product engineering and help prioritize fixes.
- Ship reusable patterns, cookbooks, and reference implementations the next ten customers build on.
- Build internal tooling for the Revenue team (e.g., agentic AI workflows to grow pipeline).
- Close gaps in docs, SDKs, and integration patterns.
What we're looking for
- Production code shipped at a real company, an internship with genuine ownership, or an open-source/side project with real adoption.
- Fluent in a modern language (Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, Ruby); we work in Python but fundamentals beat any stack.
- Comfortable writing/debugging code in front of people — pairing, live troubleshooting, explaining as you go.
- Built something real with an LLM: structured outputs, tool calling, LLM in a production workflow.
- Genuinely energized by sales conversations — you want to be in the room.
- Strong communicator who reads a room and moves a conversation forward; calm under pressure.
- Proactive by default — you follow up and push deals forward.
- 1–3 years post-undergrad (substantial internship experience counts; more is welcome).
- Based in or willing to commute to downtown LA; full-time, in-office; willing to travel periodically.
Nice to haves
- Solutions/Deployed/Forward-Deployed Engineering at a developer-facing API company (Stripe, Twilio, Plaid, Vercel, similar).
- Production voice AI: telephony, ASR, TTS, or agentic conversation patterns.
- Deploying LLM-based or agent-based systems in production; open-source AI infra contributions.
- Cloud familiarity (AWS, GCP, Azure).
